Item Description
"The Blue Beetle" had a relatively short career on the radio, between May and September of 1940. Motion picture and radio actor Frank Lovejoy was the Blue Beetle for the first 13 episodes, while for the rest of the shows, the voice was provided by a different, uncredited actor.
"The Blue Beetle" was a young police officer named Dan Garrett, who was shot on the job and given Vitamin 2-X which gave him the strength of 10 men (according to the first episode). Garrett saw the need for extra-ordinary crime fighting. He took the task on himself by secretly donning a superhero costume to create fear in the criminals who were to learn to fear the Blue Beetle's wrath.
The 13-minute segments were usually only two-parters, so the stories were often more simple than other popular programs, such as the Superman radio serial.
"The Blue Beetle" was created by Charles Nicholas and made its first appearance in Fox's Mystery Men comic, issue #1, August, 1939. The Blue Beetle got its own comic (Spring 1940). It also spawned a short lived Newspaper strip in addition to the short lived radio show.
This collection of "The Blue Beetle" radio programs features 48 shows on 1 compact disc. Each episode is presented in the .mp3 format. There are close to 24 hours of entertaining and thrilling "The Blue Beetle" episodes.
The CD is labeled and provided in a highly protective jewel case. A list of the programs on the disc as well as the date the program originally aired (if known) is also provided.

A note concerning sound quality. The sound quality for the shows in this collection is very good to good. It is difficult to find perfect recordings from the golden age of radio due to the equipment used for recording and the fact that many of the recordings were made 60, 70 or even 80 years ago.
